Session 4: May 7 & 14

Not sure which instrument is right for your child? In this highly interactive class kids explore piano, violin, viola, cello, guitar and flute, with demos, games, singing, listening, movement and rhythm activities. We will enjoy live or recorded performances by kids (including by our current students), and we'll also learn about the Suzuki Method.

This class is a great interim step between general music classes and private lessons, and will help your child figure out which instrument they are most drawn to before starting on lessons.

Instructor: Cecilia Pinto, WSM Early Childhood Specialist/Suzuki Faculty

Class size: minimum 4 students, maximum 8 students, with caregivers

Children learn to play the piano in a fun, relaxed class designed to engage and inspire! Students begin with keyboard geography, simple 5-finger songs, rhythms, and beginning chords, in a relaxed setting including singing, movement and games. As they progress through the semester they’ll learn to play both by ear and by reading music, and to compose their own pieces.

Students have a weekly 30-minute Zoom group class, and a weekly one-on-one 15-minute Zoom session with the instructor. The individual sessions enhance the student’s progress in listening, reading, motor and memory skills, reinforce the concepts from the group class, and teach excellent practice skills.  The small class of four to six moves together as a group - while each individual child gets the help they need.

Includes a listening CD and a practice CD with special tracks for each week, music book, parent book, notation games pack, opportunities for composing, and more. Don’t have a keyboard? We’ll lend you a table-top one to get started (for a returnable deposit), and can advise you on purchase.
